Field Trip

Crafting Crafting Crafting

So my sis-in-law convinced me to make a bunch of crafty things for our neighborhood garage sale. I've been sort of interested in selling some of the things that I make. So I spent about two straight weeks making product. I made felt flowers, fabric flowers, rosettes, bow ties, neck ties, leg warmers, burp cloths, headbands, and onsies. It was awful trying to get everything done that I wanted by my deadline. I got most everything done though, and we were both awake til like 2:00 in the morning finishing stuff up the night before. Last Saturday was our trash to treasure and of course it decided to rain. It was so cold and there were barely any people there and they all were looking to buy trash. So it was a little bit of a bust. I'm not disappointed though because now I have so much product that I can try to sell at a craft fair or on etsy. I think the push I got from Liz was just what I needed to get up and going on this stuff. We'll see if it sticks.

Before I forget

A couple weekends ago Wayne and I were able to get away for a night. My amazing sister-in-law offered to watch the kiddos so that we could have a night alone.

We left about 5:00 on Friday and went to get dinner at the Texas roadhouse. It was clear across town but we were craving steak so that's where we went. Then I decided that I would try to show Wayne where I use to eat yummy desserts when I lived in Sacramento right after High School. It was the cutest little cake shop in the down town area. I was so excited to take him there, but we weren't able to find it. Actually I think it probably went out of business. So sad. Anyway... so we were able to get a free night at a nice hotel (Wayne's friend hooked us up)not too far from home. We took a dip in the hot tub and enjoyed our complimentary sprite (Wayne's friend isn't LDS so he thought it'd be funny to have a sprite waiting for us with a couple wine glasses) and slept for the first time away from our kids. It was glorious.

I have to admit though that I actually really did miss our kiddos a little. But I am very glad that we got to have a nice quiet night all to ourselves. It was long overdue.

Here we are right before our hot date:)

Kid Fun

Here are the Joy School kids. This week it was my turn to have the kids. We sang songs, played play-doh, painted pumpkins, did crafts, danced, ate snacks, played house, and traced hands. Presleigh loves joy school and all of her friends.

Noah being such a cute sweet boy.
This was the first time that I have ever seen Noah sitting down with his sister watching TV.
Noah got a hold of a crayon and started putting it on like lipstick. It was super funny to watch.

Trip to Utah

My camera was left in my suitcase the whole weekend so I do not have any pictures of this trip. Hopefully my mother will send me some of hers and then I can upload them.

So the kids and I rode with my brother and his family to Utah over conference weekend. We left late Thursday evening and then drove home Sunday after the morning session of conference.

We had been planning this getaway since Liz was baptized but I wasn't going to be able to make it because Wayne had a test that weekend. But then I decided that the kids and I would just hitch a ride with them. Liz wanted to go to Utah to see all of the church history sights, so we decided to try to get tickets to conference so that it would make the trip extra special. My mother was able to get tickets for the Sunday morning session and she offered to watch the kiddos so that I could go with Darren, Liz, Dev, and Jules.

The kids and I stayed at Wayne's parents and got to visit with them a little. We also got to spend a little bit of time with Victoria and her cute little ones. Presleigh and Noah loved seeing their cousins.

Friday we spent the day at temple square. We walked around and checked everything out, and then got to watch the Joseph smith movie that evening. Saturday we spent the day shopping. We went to gardener village (my favorite) and then to the mall. That night we celebrated Lizzy's birthday with some tacos, cake and the nickelcade. We had a lot of fun. Presleigh loved playing the games and getting lots of tickets. Then Sunday we got to go to conference.

Conference was amazing as usual, I love when we are able to go to the conference center to enjoy conference live. I am so grateful for Prophets who are called of God to give us guidance and counsel. I look forward to conference every 6 months and this one was extra special because I got to enjoy it with my newly converted family members. It was a great weekend.

My baby isn't cold

I feel like I have a sign on my forehead the reads I NEED HELP. I don't know what it is, maybe it's not even me, but why on earth do people feel like they can just offer up all sorts of advice when it's not even asked for? I know sometimes we learn things that we want everyone else to do or learn as well, so we decide that we need to tell everyone about it. Not a great idea. If advice is wanted it will probably be asked for.

Athlete of the year? Not so much!!!

When I was in the eighth grade I received the athlete of the year award. It was a huge deal to me. It meant speeches to give and a banner with my name on it hung in the junior high gym for years to come. All the coaches voted on it, and i'm not kidding girls cried when they didn't win. I participated in every sport I could so that I could win the award. My parents were awesome and put me in just about every sport they could from a very young age. I played basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, softball, soccer, and track. I loved every bit of it. By the time high school hit I started losing interest and focused solely on basketball. I use to get done with two a day practices and just feel completely dead tired. I actually enjoyed that feeling.

I don't write this to toot my own horn, I'm writing this to remind myself that I can do it. To give me something to think about while I run a few miles around my neighborhood. To keep me from giving up after 5 minutes.

I know that athlete is still inside of me, she just wanted a 7 year break. The break is over. I'm officiallly adding running to my list of sports.
