Bucky Bug

My conversation with Presleigh today on our way home from Preschool

"Mom there is a fly on my hand"

"Eww Pres that's yucky"

"No, It's my friend"

"Just move your hand to make it fly away"

"But Bucky Bug likes me to be nice"

"Is it still on your hand?"

"Yep, I'm being gentle with it"

"Oh mom, you made it fly away when you moved"

"Oh sorry sweetheart"

"It wants to be my pet"

"Sorry Presleigh but the fly cannot be your pet"

A Review of Our Week

The kiddos and I made some delicious chocolate chip cookies. They love to sit up on the counter and help pour in ingredients. Noah still doesn't quite understand that they need to cook in the oven though. He gets upset when he doesn't immediately get cookies. He does that with his oatmeal too:)

We have the best view of the gorgeous sunsets here in Meridian. We live right in front of an open field so we get to see the beautiful orange sky most evenings. The other night Wayne let the kids take turns on his shoulders so that they could get a good look at the sky. I love how excited they get about the sun setting:)

Saturday Wayne decided to mow the lawn. He said to me "I'm gonna go grab my hat and then go mow the lawn." So of course the kids both said they needed their hats and went and found a couple hats to wear while they went outside with daddy. Yes Noah is wearing big boy underwear. He has gone on the potty a few times. We will see if he can keep it up, or if mommy can I guess. I wasn't really ready for the potty training.

This is a picture of Noah poking at a grasshopper. Yuck!

And more bug watching:)

Here is cute little Noah before church. We were trying to get a picture of my growing belly, but Noah wanted to be in all the pictures. Isn't he so handsome!!!

Almost every Sunday when we pull into the parking lot of the church Presleigh says to us, "Look at all of these vans!" It is so funny.

Noah's new nursery teacher told me a couple weeks that they call Noah the "class president". I didn't really know what this means until this Sunday when his other teacher told me that they tell all the other kids to watch Noah and to be like Noah because he is apparently a good example. I was surprised to hear this because just a couple months ago he was struggling to even go to nursery. I am glad that he is doing better in his new nursery:)

Presleigh is doing really well in Preschool. I can already tell a difference with all of the letters that she is learning. She sing songs from preschool and is a lot more interested in learning new things.

Presleigh's finger is looking much much better. It has a pretty nasty scar all the way around and I'm a little worried about how her nail is going to grow back, but we are so grateful that there was never any infection and that it has healed so well.

Presleigh is now able to get herself swinging on the swingset. She will push Noah on his swing and then jump up onto her swing and pump her legs. She can get going pretty good too. She is such a great big sister:)

We have been busy busy these days. Wayne has been working overtime and then studies after work for his CPA test. He has 2 left and will hopefully get them done by Christmas. I have started working a little bit more, now that I am feeling better.

We have been going for bike rides in the evenings since it's starting to cool down a little. The kids love to ride around the neighborhood, and it gives me a little exercise.

I have been feeling baby kick a little, which is my favorite. I love the little flutter in my belly:) Two weeks until we find out whether it's a boy or girl. I was thinking that we wouldn't find out but I've realized that I'm not patient enough for that.

After putting offers in on a few homes and not getting them we are taking a house hunting break. I was a little sad to let it go but it obviously isn't the right time for us to be buying a home.

Our Trip to the ER

While we were in Montana Presleigh had a little accident which landed her in the ER. We were having a family dinner get together and all the kids were playing outside. I was sitting at the table talking to my sister Nicole with Noah curled up in my arms (he had just woken up from a nap and was being needy) when my Bro-in-law Cale brought my poor little Pres inside. She was crying pretty hard and her finger was gushing blood. He told us that she had gotten her finger smashed in the playhouse door. I went to give Noah to my sister but she took Presleigh instead which I am so grateful for because I didn't really know what to do. Nicole is a nurse and was way more calm then I was. I didn't really think it was that big of a deal because Pres has gotten a finger slammed in a door before and it didn't really do much damage. But apparently while Nicole was rinsing it with water in the bathroom she saw that it was really bad. So we loaded up and went to the ER. We wrapped her little hand with a towel and told her that the doctor was going to help her finger feel better, and as soon as we got into the car she calmed down and was fine for most of our ER experience. She even fell asleep for a little while on my lap:)

We sat in the ER for quite a while. This is a picture of us waiting for the Doctor to repair her finger.
This is while the doctor was looking at it. I have to say that when the nurse checked it out it looked like this, not too extreme of a cut across her finger. But when the doctor was looking at it I finally saw what my sister had seen when she was rinsing it in the bathroom, that it was hanging on by just a little bit of skin:( The doctor had an x-ray done to make sure that her finger wasn't fractured which it wasn't,thank goodness. Then a couple hours later they came back in and told me that they were going to put her in a papoose thing and stitch her up. I asked if they were going to sedate her and that's when the doctor said that they could sedate her if I wanted.

Ok this was a tough thing for me. No I didn't want my little daughter to go under with medication, but I thought that the papoose thing would have been complete torture. Not being able to move, getting shots in her wound, sounded like it would not be fun for her or for me. So yes, Presleigh was sedated and got 5 stiches in her pinky finger. The doctor told us that it was 3/4 of the way amputated. I felt pretty nauseous while they were stitching her up, but I'm pretty sure it was because I always feel nauseous these days. Seriously I don't know how my daughter was not freaking out. She was so tough throughout the whole thing. The nurse had given her a few princess stickers and she was so excited about them.

While we were waiting for Presleigh to wake up my mom brought Nicole and I some of the dinner that we had missed out on. It was delicious.

When Presleigh started waking up she was so funny. She looked at me and said "mommy, how come you have so many teeth?" I didn't realize that she was probably seeing double or triple so I just answed "so that we can chew our food." She asked this a bunch of times and just kept making odd comments about my teeth. After she had been mostly awake for about an hour we were able to take her home.

They told me not to let her walk because she would be pretty wobbly for a while which I thought wouldn't be an issue because it was midnight. When we got home though I laid Presleigh down and had to run upstairs to grab some medicine. I told her to stay put and not to get up, but of course as I walked downstairs I saw Presleigh stumbling trying to walk to me. I caught her right before she biffed it.

We had to go back to the hospital two days later to get her finger checked out and this is what it looked like. I thought it looked awful, but the Doc was very happy with the way it looked and said it was healing better than he thought it would. While we were there Presleigh told me that I was a lot taller last time we were at the hospital (I'm pretty sure she meant when she was on the drugs)

This is a picture of the back of her finger after a couple days. this shows how much was really cut.

When we got back to Idaho I took Pres in to get her stitches out. Her finger is still healing and she says it still hurts. I thought it would heal a lot faster than it is.

This was extra rough on Wayne because while all of this was happening he was stuck in Memphis. Plus my phone was dead so updates weren't happening very often. We are just so so grateful that it wasn't anything life threatening.

Montana

We got up bright and early Saturday morning and started our 10 hour drive to Montana. We were hoping that because we left early the kids would keep sleeping for a few hours, but that didn't really work out. They were super good in the car though. Presleigh complained a little about her back hurting and told us a few times, "I can't stay in this much longer," But they were little troopers. Presleigh has mastered going potty on the side of the road, and sometimes I think she uses it as an excuse to take a break from the car. We got to my parents house and had a delicious BBQ.

That night we went over to a hotel and got to see g-pa and g-ma Taylor and the John Taylors who were passing through town on their way to North Dakota. It was totally funny that we were seeing Wayne's family in my hometown. But it was so good to be able to visit with them for a couple hours.

Wayne left super early Sunday morning for his work training in Memphis, and was gone all week:(

The next few days were nice and relaxing. We visited with family and enjoyed delicious food. Sunday I got to see my cousin Ash and her fam which was great. We had a yummy BBQ at my aunt's house. My kids were quite entertained with their cousins. They spent lots of time on my Aunt's trampoline and played tag.

Monday we celebrated my sister Kim's birthday with some of my favorite Mongolian food, which I crave constantly. Presleigh and Noah played with Kim's kids tons. They mostly played in my mom's garden house, which they use as a playhouse.

I found out in Montana that I am anemic which explained why I have been exhausted through out this pregnancy. Luckily a little Iron supplement fixed that right up and I started feeling much better while I was there.

Tuesday was suppose to be a great day. We planned another yummy dinner with lots of family and some delicious peach cobler. All the kiddos were playing outside and I was chit chatting with my sister Nicole when Presleigh had a bad accident:( (I'll post details in another post). Anyway this ruined our fun plans for the night and we ended up spending the evening in the ER.

The rest of the week went by super fast. The kids played a lot on this little motor golf cart. Well mostly Noah. Presleigh was scared to ride it by herself because her first go at it it was in reverse and she drove into a bunch of my mom's plants. But Noah would just sit on it and drive in circles.

I had big plans to work on my kid's halloween costumes while I was there but we didn't end up sewing at all. We did go to a ceramics paint place and the kids got to paint their very own little critter. Presleigh painted a butterfly and Noah painted a turtle. They had so much fun putting loads of paint on them but they were sad that they didn't get to take them home. They had to get fired so we had to leave them there, but i'll post pictures after my mom sends them to us.

Wayne got back into town late Friday night so we had a couple days to spend as a family. We mostly just hung out and enjoyed talking with the fam, and playing games. We left Monday morning. I was super sick for most of the car ride so poor Wayne had to drive the whole way home:( Thankfully the kids were really good on the way home.

I was such a slacker with pictures and seriously only have pictures of the kids playing on the golf cart:(

The Boise Zoo

A few days before our trip to Montana I took my kiddos to the zoo. Presleigh and Noah loved looking at all of the animals. I think their favorite was the butterfly room, which I have no pictures of. I loved watching how excited they would get when they saw each animal:)

Since the zoo is right down by Wayne's work we decided to pick up lunch and have a picnic at the park. It was our first time meeting daddy for lunch which is weird because in Sacramento we were always meeting up for lunch, but we rarely make it into Boise.

Mascara

So this happened before our trip to Montana but I want to get up to date on this blog.

Noah's favorite thing to play with is my mascara. Whenever there is quietness in the house I can usually find Noah in the bathroom getting into my make-up. I know this shouldn't be a problem because I should keep my stuff up high, but my hubby was planning on putting a child lock on the drawer and just hasn't gotten around to it. So instead of a drawer lock we just try to make sure the door stays shut. Most the time when Noah gets a hold of my make-up or any pens around the house Presleigh is the first to come tell me. I guess this time she decided to play with him. I obviously wasn't paying attention to what they were doing and niether was Wayne:( They were playing so well outside in the backyard, well at least I thought.

I was talking to my mother at the time and decided to go check on them and all I saw was a big black mess. It was everywhere, on their face, their legs, their toes, their clothes, the house, the patio, our patio chairs. I screamed when I saw them but then had to laugh and grab my phone to take a couple pictures. Luckily it was cheap washable mascara so it came off pretty good. The bath had a huge black ring around it:)

When I told Presleigh that it was not okay to play with mommy's mascara she said to me, "We were trying to be kittys, but we don't have costumes." Hence the whisker looking lines on their faces. I think she did a pretty good job.

I wish that I could say that we have solved the make-up issue but honestly I caught Noah with it again this afternoon.
